Before launching the company, co-founders Ed Steiner and Tom Hicks worked at a fully integrated manufacturing firm. Over time, they grew frustrated by the constraints imposed by in-house machinery, limited resources, and the struggle to remain cost-competitive. Driven by a shared passion for engineering and innovation, Ed envisioned a new kind of contract manufacturing business—one that would harness a network of the most efficient and cost-effective manufacturers, allowing designs to be optimized without being restricted by in-house tools.

In the early 2000s, we began expanding beyond our roots in science education instrumentation. When Ed retired in 2007, Don DeWitt joined the team, bringing deep electrical engineering expertise and helping lead the company into new markets. What started as a regional operation has grown into a global organization, with facilities across the U.S., Southeast Asia, and manufacturing capabilities in Mexico and India.
