A long-time customer wanted to modernize their flagship dynamics cart for classroom physics experiments. The goal: retain full compatibility with the existing systemof components, preserve the familiar form factor, and introduce an array of new sensors and precision measurement tools — all while staying well below a competitor’s pricing. The most critical technical demand was high-accuracy real-time position tracking, something the current product line couldn’t deliver.
Steiner Enterprises redesigned the cart from the inside out. A high-precision optical encoder was integrated into the wheel assembly to deliver positional accuracy down to 0.005 inches in real time. To protect data fidelity, the encoder was physically isolated from chassis vibration and rolling inconsistencies. Additionally, several legacy design features were improved and cost-reduced, and the housing was retooled to accept various sensor modules while remaining backward-compatible with add-ons from the original product line.
